This is how Nick got his shot of Lady Elliot Island...

Nick Rains is originally English, but now lives and works in his adopted homeland Australia. He studied Zoology at Swansea University in the UK, but became interested in working as a commercial photographer after graduating. Six months in Australia, including an assignment to cover the America's Cup yacht race for Canon, was a pivotal period in his life. He subsequently developed a career as a landscape and travel photographer by undertaking extended trips to Germany, Turkey, Italy, France, and Spain, shooting for the stock photography market. He finally returned to Australia in 1990, this time for good. During the last 10 years Nick estimates he has travelled over 300,000 miles in the 'Sunburnt Country', and has worked for the Australian Tourism Commission, Tourism NSW, WA Tourism, Penguin Books, Readers Digest Books, New Holland Publishers, Shell Petroleum, BBC TV, Sports Illustrated, and many others. These days he shoots only landscapes: "...this is what I do best and this is what I enjoy the most - I consider myself very fortunate to make a living doing what I enjoy."
