"A photographic document" is how Phil Kember describes his work in Death Valley National Park. "There is more to a location than just its geology, I am also interested in the people that choose to live in and around my particular photographic subject. Death Valley is an extraordinary place, with some extraordinary characters to match. The inclusion of these people I believe adds depth and the element of time to my work". Phil's landscape images have appeared in many publications, posters and books. He is currently working on a series of murals for a group of federal agencies as well as attracting photographers from around the world to his annual spring workshop. Recently, Phil has added California's eastern Sierra region to his body of work.
